Throughout human history, planetary alignments held deep spiritual significance. Today, many spiritual/magickal traditions view these events as portals of heightened energy and transformation. For many practitioners, the alignment of celestial bodies creates a unique energetic pattern that may influence the Earth and its inhabitants - a testament that math and science intertwine with spirituality and the human's ability to create/manifest a divine future. It’s as if the planets are sending us a positive, life-affirming message and providing an open pathway of opportunity for self-improvement.
For the past month, news agencies have continued to share a flurry of headlines involving two alignment opportunities -- one that occurred in January and the upcoming event spanning the last few days of February 2025. The science tells us we can view a marvelous parade in the sky. The mysticism says we stand at a threshold of spiritual opportunity.
This month (February 2025) an interesting celestial event has been unfolding. Seven planets of our solar system, including Earth, are moving into a visual pattern known as a “great planetary alignment," or, as some call it, a "planet parade." This event, visible to the naked eye, will occur around the evenings of February 27 and 28 (depending on your location) when Saturn, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Mars, Uranus, and Neptune will all grace the night sky in an eye-candy parade. Additionally, this planetary alignment coincides with the New Moon (7:45 PM EST/4:45 PM PST on the 27th) in Pisces, providing an excellent opportunity for setting intentions and performing amazing rituals and magick!
When these planets align with their myriad dialogues, their energies blend, potentially bringing positive changes to various aspects of our lives if we remain attuned to them and acknowledge the flow. What is the theme for this delightful alignment in February? Creative Flow
For those who believe, the February alignment acts as a cosmic gateway, presenting a chance for profound personal transformation and spiritual growth. This event amplifies energies for manifestation and self-reflection, similar to a unique door opening in the sky that offers significant opportunities for change. With five (Moon, Sun, Mercury, Saturn, Neptune) of the planetary energies (here we are going old-school, counting the Moon as a planet) operating in Pisces, the sign of creativity and intuition, many believe the energy emanating can help us realize our dreams and encourage introspection, enabling us to understand our true selves better. It is a prime time to contemplate any changes we wish to see in our lives and concentrate on fine-tuning our intentions blended with thoughtful, directed action.
The energy line-up will be impressive, beginning with that New Pisces Moon carrying the light of beginnings like a star quarterback charging down the field of potential. Conjunct with the fixed star Skat, good fortune, lasting happiness, and safety in a storm might be promised as long as one keeps in mind the balance of one’s actions. There is one block, and it will be different for everyone. Work through that, and it will quickly dissolve. Mars then helps the flow along, with Saturn giving assistance from someone older or in authority…or perhaps graces you with something you’ve earned. But it doesn’t stop there! Uranus offers a surprise boost, while Neptune encourages looking at the big picture and being creative. Mercury does the job of adding flow, connection, and knowledge that will enable you to manifest what you truly desire. Don’t forget: Your fortune lies in keeping balance.

Activities to Welcome Change
Create, contemplate, and then set clear intentions. Write them down and place them on your altar. Burn the papers on the New Moon.
Enjoy meditation and reflection focused first on release and then on future goals and desires. Some feel these meditations have the most power immediately when you wake or right before you fall asleep. A morning meditation as soon as you float to consciousness can have a fantastic impact on your day, particularly if you “connect” to the five elements in harmonious alignment. For example, you might say: “I am in harmony with Earth (or, I am at Peace with Earth), and take the time to feel your being adjusted to the Earth plane. I usually embrace the air element next, followed by water, and fire. I finish with “spirit” because I feel that in sleep, I have communed with Spirit, so I am re-establishing my connection to the universal deity from my earth-centered position.
Perform rites or rituals that support your desires and the future you choose to live. What if you did a “Rite of Acknowledgement” with a simple poem or statement every day, focused on embracing your desires and affirming your thoughts and actions toward that goal? For example, lighting a white candle each morning. Clearing your environment with a favored rattle, then whispering your intent for the future of this day? Or next week. Or next month.
Talk to yourself aloud. Don’t ignore tough feelings or challenging thoughts. Ask yourself, “Why am I feeling this way?” and answer yourself honestly without judgment. Life is about progress, not perfection. If we hold on to negative self-talk, then we are our own worst enemy, setting up disappointment and real blockages to our success. Clear the way! Honor what you say!
Practice love and compassion. Smile at a stranger. Do small, good deeds. Honestly compliment others. We can’t expect the world to be a better place if we don’t actively help to make it so. What better time to set the stage for love and positivity when the portals of energy open?
Choose One New Thing To Learn over the next six months. Open your mind to something exciting and wondrous – a skill, a practice, travel, etc. Learning always opens the way to opportunity and success!
