Rituals on New Year's Eve can play a significant role in how we celebrate the transition into a new year. They can help us reflect on the past year, set intentions for the future, and foster a sense of community and belonging. Many cultures have unique traditions, such as making resolutions, toasting at midnight, or lighting fireworks. These rituals serve as symbols of hope and renewal. Engaging in meaningful activities can enhance our emotional well-being, allowing us to let go of the previous year's challenges and embrace fresh opportunities. Additionally, these rituals often involve gathering with family and friends, strengthening social bonds, and creating lasting memories. Whether it's sharing a meal, exchanging wishes, or simply counting down to midnight, the connections we forge during these moments can enrich our lives creating moments of magick that we will always treasure. Who hasn't been with a gathering of friends or family and traveled down the "Remember When..." road with laughter, smiles, and a tear or two?
Spending time alone, designing a personal ceremony of acknowledgement and celebration is just as important as spending time with others for our emotional health. Performing rituals of release are agreements with yourself, acceptance that you desire the change of letting go and choosing to move on. Why not have a little boost in your ritual by using the timing of the New Year and the power of millions of souls in over 200 countries across the world as they celebrate New Year’s energy with joy and laughter? A harmony of voices raised in rolling thunder as the day is born across the globe! Today’s Challenge includes a New Year’s Ritual provided for you, or you can make your own. But first, let’s do:
Today’s Challenges!
Challenge #1: Energy cleanse your entire living area – use bells, singing bowls, drums, rattles, etc. Your choice. Don’t forget the holy water and the white candle. Earn 25 Gold Stars!
Challenge #2: Do several 3-Minute Dashes! For every one completed? 10 Gold Stars!
Challenge #3: Choose one task that you were unable to complete during the program and schedule it for some time in January. Choose the date and write it on your calendar. 10 Gold Stars
New Year’s 2024 Ritual for Good Fortune and Release of Negativity
Before we begin, there are several timing choices for this ritual. First, start 1/2 hour to 15 minutes before Midnight and time the banishing/burning part of the ritual for exactly Midnight. Or, time your positive intention statement for Midnight, when the rolling thunder will be the greatest around you. If you don't want to take advantage of the rolling thunder concept, you can perform the ritual at dawn on New Year's Day while facing the rising sun -- the timing decision is up to you.
This ritual requires a bit of preparation. You will need to Burning the Clock drawing below (print off from your computer) and a selection of dried herbs. Follow the instructions on the Burning the Clock paper and place the finished product in an envelope. You will use this envelope in the New Year’s Ritual. You may also want to collect a symbol or trinket of some kind to carry with you throughout the new year to symbolize Good Luck.
The Ritual --
Choose a peaceful space where you can sit comfortably, or you may want to do your ritual outdoors, under a canopy of sparkling stars. Gather the following items for your ritual: A small glass of water as an offering to your ancestors, the envelope with the Clock Paper pre-mixed with chosen dried banishing herbs, a cauldron in which to burn the clock paper envelope, a candle (preferably white or gold), fire-safe candle holder, a lighter or matches to burn the clock paper and light the candle, and any small token that symbolizes prosperity to you (like a coin or a crystal). If you choose to perform this ritual outside, please dress appropriately for the weather. You may wish to put your ritual items on a tray for easy transport. If you work inside, be sure there is adequate ventilation to burn the envelope.
Once you have gathered all your supplies, relax and breathe deeply. Let your muscles loosen and purposefully allow the tension to drain from your body. I say purposefully because it isn't all that easy if you are stressed. Sometimes you have to stop, permit yourself, and then concentrate on relaxing. Remember that your body and your mind believe they are helping you, even if they make bad choices. They need direction from you. You have worked extremely hard on this program, and this ritual represents the "seal" on all your hard work. Congratulate yourself on all you have accomplished. Replay some of your wonderful successes this year, and know that this ritual is another step in the direction of positive completion of your overall goals. Once you feel calm and grounded, it is time to proceed.
Hold the candle and think of hope and new beginnings. Envision the Sea of Potential, and know that you command this universal energy. Breathe colors, love, and words into the barrel of the candle. Whisper the charge. When you feel you are finished, light the candle as a symbol of hope and new beginnings.
Offer the glass of water to the four directions: the sky and the earth. Connect with your ancestors.
Burn the Clock Envelope. Take your time. Be firm in your statements of release. You may wish to recite a banishing charm like "Evil Be Gone." (Evil be gone; do not return; the horse has run off, and the bridges are burned.)
Take a few deep breaths, centering yourself in the present moment.
Think about what you want to bring into your life in 2025. Visualize feelings of happiness, joy, and success. Speak your intentions aloud, affirming them as if they are already true. For example, “I will experience much happiness and positive abundance this year.” This is a simple and direct statement. Concentrate on that burning candle as you chant. Does the flame rise or remain strong and steady? It is a good indication there is a clear pathway to your success. If it sputters? You may lack confidence, or perhaps you should change the wording of your chant.
Conclude your working with words of gratitude. Touch the core of the universe -- the infinite love of the divine. Open your arms and sweep them over your working area. Pull in the positive energy of the working and focus those vibrations into your good luck trinket. Close your eyes. Breathe out slowly and let go in peace. Draw an equal-armed cross in the air over the trinket to seal in the positive energies.
After the ritual, allow the candle to burn completely if you can. If not, burn every night for 1/2, monitored for as long as it can last. Pour the water from the glass outside on the ground. Scatter the ashes from the cauldron to the winds.
Spirit Message for Today is from Spirits of Risk – Crash Cart Granny
In 2024, I embarked on a transformative journey filled with growth, exploration, and the courage to face my fears. Among my creations, I brought to life Crash Helmet Granny, a peg doll that embodies my commitment to experimentation and self-discovery. Through innovative techniques and artistic expression, this doll symbolizes my willingness to expand my horizons, not just in art and writing, but in every aspect of life. It stands as a testament to embracing the unknown and pushing the boundaries of my creativity. I adorned the doll with flowing grey hair made of embroidery thread to honor the wisdom of the crone, and added a painted crash helmet to her head to symbolize resilience. This way, even if she stumbles, she can rise and keep moving forward. Each detail reflects not just strength, but a celebration of the journey of life and the courage to overcome challenges.
For the first time this year, I brought my visions to life on my own by creating a children's book and a runic workbook in the self-publishing venue. The journey—from the initial spark of an idea, to the physical creations of the characters, to building the sets, taking all the pictures, to the final touches of writing, editing, art, and design—was profoundly fulfilling. When I finally hit that publish button, it felt like a triumphant celebration of perseverance and creativity. You can find both of these books available in my shop and on Amazon (links below). But that was just the beginning! I went on to construct and embellish an enchanting castle, explored various cities to share my books, and hosted Granny Camp right here at the Hearthstone for another marvelous year! Each adventure was a new opportunity for inspiration and connection, allowing me to weave my creative journey into a rich tapestry of experiences. And there’s so much more yet to come!
